2008/2009 Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Expansion

Contractor

C.D. Smith Construction of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, will be the contractors on the WWTP Expansion Project.

Engineer

Strand Associates, Inc. of Madison, Wisconsin, will be the engineering firm responsible for the 2008 2nd Street Reconstruction Project.

Existing Plant

Influent Pumping Station

Wastewater is pumped from the influent pumping station up to the treatment processes.  The existing pumps will be replaced to accommodate higher future wastewater flows.

Sludge Pumping & Screening Building

The wastewater screen removes material from the wastewater that may harm downstream equipment.  The existing wastewater screen will be moved to a new screening building.

Biosolids Tank No. 2

Biosolids created from the wastewater treatment process are stored in Biosolids Tank No. 2 (and Tank No. 1).  A new biosolids mixer will be place in Tank No. 2.

Oxidation Ditch & Final Clarifier

The oxidation ditch and final clarifier treat the wastewater.  Each of these structures will be upgraded.  In addition, a second oxidation ditch and second final clarifier will be constructed.

Cascading Aerator

Oxygen is entrained in the treatment plant effluent at this structure just prior to discharge to the Little Sugar River. A new flow meter will be installed at this structure.

Chemical Feed Building

This building houses a chemical storage tank and pumps to help remove phosphorus from the wastewater.  Minor improvements will be done in this building.
